Your comment is great on this topic. Great investigation. After searching for similar problems I didn't find much about this. I didn't try your tool yet. But I would like to add my feedback regarding this issue:
Situation: Windows Server 2008 SP2, MSI Installer 4.5.
Using Altiris to deploy XenApp 5 environment.
Issue: as described in your article.
When: Deploying XenAppHosted Client (Citrix ICA Client).
Workaround of perhaps Fix: Runing in my situation I did a separate installation and ran the silent install command as launched via Altiris but logged on already with the same service/user account. I wne through the log file generated when deploying the MSI package.
I took all "Properties" used during this setup and pasted it behind the MSI command line: in my case I guess it was "ALLUSERS=1" and "/qn" that solved the issue.
Remark: When deploying Windows Server 2008 SP2 I make sure UAC and all requirements are configured before installing/deploying any software silently.
Must admit 95% is working well. Even the same scripts that are used on Windows Server 2003 with the previous version of MSI Installer (with 100%).
Hope I could contribute with some info here.Again good article and thanks for sharing.
