On a friend’s car, a Passat B7 (3AA) the seat heaters didn’t work. So I connected to the car with VCDS to see if we could troubleshoot this.
I opened Control Module 9, Central Electronics:
Then went to 7 Long Coding, and it turned out that the Seat Heating was not properly coded.
VCDS didn’t have a label file for this module but it should be Byte 22, Bit 2:
I changed it to:
And now the seat heaters were working again.
But the driver wondered why the seat heater level wasn’t remembered. I am not sure why this isn’t activated by default but it can be easily changed.
Go to Control Module 8, Auto HVAC:
Then go to Adaptation, select channel “Storage of driver seat heater level” and select On as the New value:
There’s not setting for the passenger seat though

Does this mean that t “heater level” can be remembered after one leaves car and comes back again?
Is there a document on which settings are available at all? (For instace I’ve been wondering if seat heater could be automatically active on car start if outside temperature is, say, below 0 degress.) …
@Lukas: yes that’s exactly what it does! I am not aware of any document listing possible tweaks for the B7 specifically but there are some guides on the net for the 3C/CC of which some stuff is still applicable.
Your “friend” drives a nice car 🙂
Hi,
Do you happen to know if there is a similar procedure that is working for a MK5(6J) SEAT Ibiza? Because I have the same problem, one day the heated seats stopped working(fuses are ok btw).
Thanks in advance!
